A day at the Clinic in Carrefour
Now that we have internet, it is so much easier to receive news about what's happening at the Clinic. Carolyn Lang wrote this last night:
"We had another busy day here in Carrefour. It is very hot as all of my dear friends in the North East are drowning in snow we understand. It sure is great to have the Internet hooked up here.
"We have a wonderful team and are all working so well together. Our Doctor, Vladymyn Jean is Haitian. His knowledge of the people and their medicine is invaluable. He knows a lot about third world medicine. He is absolutely amazing. He has a great sense of humor and I would venture to say we all love him!!
"The nurses who came down on our team are also Haitian. They too have a great understanding of the people. We have have another Haitian nurse who works with us but who lives here in Haiti. Of course the Millians are here. Their Granddaughter Gaelle is the most amazing 18 year old I have ever met. She is so smart. She coordinates trips here for medication and has set up a network of area clinics and we are able to share medications. I told Luc that he must be so incredibly proud of his daughter.
We see some patients that there just isn't anything that we can do for them. That is very hard. We saw an eight year old boy today that is about the size of a four or five year old. He had growths on his joints and his head, very deformed. He has an umbilical hernia the size of a softball. The nurses worked together to try to treat his head which was covered in sores that were pussing. Nothing like I have ever seen in my life."
